Almost all sunlight misses Earth.

I thought of this a bit ago and started running numbers. It seems obvious that all sunlight can’t go to earth, but it is insane how much energy goes off into space. That portion that hits us is 0.00000005% of the sun’s energy output. For comparison, the same proportion of the earths total surface area earth is 0.25 square kilometers (keep in mind when you look at google earth, you’re seeing less than half of the world). So, imagine everything on earth being wasted except a single-family rural farm in an unknown town, and you have the rough proportion of how much energy from the sun goes nowhere.
