Internal Role application 7 months after move

I’ve been with my company going on 5 years. I genuinely love this company. Ever-growing but still a family business. A little underpaid but I have tenure and incredible benefits. I moved from a buyer role to a business analyst role after IT asked me to apply about 7 months ago. To be a little blunt- I hate it. It’s not really work I enjoy, im super bored and don’t really feel integrated with the team.

I am now being poached by finance for a Sr Financial Analyst role monitoring Supply Chain. This is reporting I helped build out and more exciting work that I genuinely love doing. I’ll be back to spreadsheets and deep analysis and I really want to take the job.

I guess I feel bad about leaving the department so soon especially with an open project and a recently resigned PM. Ultimately my boss is either going to okay me applying or he won’t. The finance department head will be going to him sometime in the next few weeks. Any advice of just a helpful pep talk so I don’t feel so lousy?
