Anyone had card fraud after paying for Vietnam e-Visa?
Need some help! I am a Singaporean resident. I applied for a Vietnam e-Visa through the official website ( evisa.gov.vn ) and made the payment on 13 September using my debit card. I use this card online quite often, but mostly on sites like Amazon, Sony and other well-known websites. I also use Apple Pay whenever it’s available. For the Vietnam visa, I believe I entered my card details directly since it was the official government website.
Then from 16 September, I started getting transactions from Apple that I didn’t make. There are 28 transactions in total, with different amounts around SGD 45, 57, 63, etc. I didn’t receive any OTP or approval request for any of them.
I am overseas rn and checked my app when I couldn’t make a payment due to “insufficient funds” error. I already contacted the bank, blocked the card and reported everything. They told me the transactions were made in Singapore.
I’m obviously not sure if this has anything to do with the Vietnam visa payment, but the timing made me wonder. I’m very safe with such things as I don’t pick up random calls, open fishy emails or texts and use my card only on well-known sites too. I am trying to understand how these credentials could get leaked out so I can be safe in the future.
The bank said that they would look into it and will see if it can be overturned. I lost about $1400 now.
Has anyone here experienced something similar after using the official Vietnam e-Visa website or any other way? if the transactions were from Apple or were made in Singapore? #travel source
