I understand that discipline > motivation and I try to be…

I understand that discipline > motivation and I try to be very professional at my work but my boss’s perception is that I don’t look as curious as he would expect me to be.

i’m working in sales and have a lot of autonomy. sometimes i feel like my ego may prevent me from asking more questions, because i don’t want others to think i don’t know about XYZ as much as I should. I understand that this isn’t a good strategy because it will prevent me from actually learning faster… maybe it’s fear of failure?

the truth is, generally speaking i’m a very curious person, i go into detail about the most random stuff but when it comes to my job, i just lack that curiosity.

i try to be very professional and i build systems that help me to do a good job, and because im very discreet, i understand that my boss’s perception may be that im not doing the extra mile.

while i understand i should give more visibility about what im doing, my biggest reason to write this post is to understand other’s opinions about why at work, im not so curious or competitive (im very competitive in sports and at my jobs i never felt like im the best — this is worth mentioning — for example sometimes at sports i prefer not to do something than to do it and think i will fail, like for example when i haven’t surfed for a while, it’s harder for me to get back at it).

thank you for your help
