I hate my manager and truly wish him the worst after what he pulled
Long story short, I was hired for a 4 month contract, completed 3 months with little feedback and then received an email early this week from someone asking if I could meet with him to go over my day to day operations as he would be replacing me. I hadn’t heard anything of it so I messaged my manager and he told me my contract would be ending early the next week and I would need to train my replacement soon.
A couple days go by and he ask me to meet with him and I politely brought up how if possible I’d like to just send documents as I was very blindsided by this. I understand it’s within their right, but it wouldn’t have taken much effort to send me a proper email or get on a quick call with me. Asking me to train my replacement after no one could even tell me my contract was getting ended a month early is very insulting but I didn’t say that just yet. He gave me a snarky and condescending response and implied I’m worth nothing because I’m a contractor instead of just a simple “I know it’s frustrating but we do need you to do this”.
I just said how I thought it was unprofessional and disrespectful to not give me any sort of notice until you had no choice and that I would still have the meeting and complete my task. He then proceeded to call me unprofessional and made up claims about my work that he conveniently never brought up to me until now. I responded back saying I don’t think that’s fair to call me unprofessional after the way I was notified of this and I disagree with his claims but I will complete any tasks needed of me for the rest of my contract. I got no response.
Today goes by and I have my meeting and all goes fine and then literally an hour before the end of the work day, the agency I am employed through calls me and says the company has decided to end my contract this week instead because there is a holiday next week. Like yeah I’m sure they conveniently decide to end my contract last minute because there is a holiday next Saturday. I brought it up to the agency but there is nothing they can do about it since it’s at will.
I truly despise my manager. What a vindictive, spineless asshole. He went out of his way to take a week of pay away from someone half his age because I dared step out of line and disagree with how it was handled. For anyone saying “well there must be more to this”, the other thing is that he would constantly ask me to update documents I had already updated and sent over to him. I would tell him multiple times until he finally looked and saw it was all there.
And for anyone commenting “he made the right choice” or anything like that, I truly hope you never had to deal with a situation like this. I’d be happy to answer any questions you have about this situation since a few replies have decided I’m the bad guy.
Sorry about the rant but just in a very rough mental place now, just needed to voice this since I’m sure many of you can relate.
