The plants aren’t tiring me out, the constant up-and-down…

The plants aren’t tiring me out, the constant up-and-down is.

Yard work has this weird way of making a small job feel much bigger because nothing stays at one height. Pull a few weeds low to the ground, stand up to grab something, squat again to transplant, walk back for the tool you left ten feet away, repeat until a “quick hour outside” feels like a whole event.

I’m starting to think the biggest improvement isn’t working faster, it’s cutting down the unnecessary position changes. A low garden seat, keeping tools and a bucket within reach, using longer-handled tools for some jobs, and grouping all the low-to-ground tasks together seem more useful than trying to power through everything in one stretch. I’m not looking for some device that makes yard work effortless, just ways to keep the repetitive up-down part from draining all the energy before the actual gardening is done.

What change to your setup reduced that constant position-switching the most?
