Lets us discuss Jesus of Nazareth from a legal perspective. The Christians love to promote the idea that Jesus somehow "sacrificed" himself for the "sins" of mankind but to me it sounds like a ridiculous and deceptive rationalization that does not match the historical facts. Its like saying Jesus died for the "sins" of Tsarnaev's terrorism. Yet the bombing killed and maimed people regardless. Was Jesus just a convicted criminal?
Now one can argue. Jesus didn't get a fair trial. However one can also argue the opposite. Jesus fell foul of the law and was found guilty of criminal conduct according to the laws of the time. The Romans seem to have executed him for some crime against the state, hence crucifixion as the method, possibly sedition?
Whats the opinion of Jesus from the convicted criminal angle? The Christian claim that Jesus "sacrificed" himself makes no sense when legally he was executed violently by the state. Being forcefully scourged and nailed to a cross is death at the hands forcefully by another. Hardly voluntary.
Matthew 27:46 "And about the ninth hour Jesus cried out with a loud voice, saying, “Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani?” that is to say, “My God, My God, why hast Thou forsaken Me?"
If someone went willingly to their death why would they complain about the agony and feel betrayed? So what is the view on this? #religion source H
