#summersolstice @amjadali g/studio Q1️⃣- If the Summer…

#summersolstice

Q1️⃣- If the Summer Solstice gives us the longest day of the year, why isn't it usually the hottest day of the year?
✅️✅️ The Summer Solstice gives us the most daylight, but the Earth doesn't heat up instantly. Just like a metal pan stays hot even after you turn off the stove, the land and oceans keep absorbing solar energy for weeks after the solstice. This delayed warming effect is called "seasonal lag," which is why the hottest days usually arrive in July or August rather than on the solstice itself.

Q2️⃣- On the Summer Solstice, does the Sun rise earliest, set latest, or both? Explain your answer.
✅️✅️Interestingly, it is usually not both. Around the Summer Solstice, the Sun rises its earliest a few days before the solstice and sets its latest a few days after it. The longest day happens because of the combined effect of sunrise and sunset times. Variations in Earth's orbit and tilt cause these times to shift slightly, so the solstice sits between the earliest sunrise and latest sunset rather than matching both exactly.

Q3️⃣- If you stood exactly on the Tropic of Cancer during the Summer Solstice at noon, what unusual thing could happen to your shadow?
✅️✅️At local noon on the Summer Solstice, the Sun can be positioned directly overhead on the Tropic of Cancer. When this happens, your shadow becomes extremely short and may almost disappear beneath your feet. It can feel as if the Sun is shining straight down from above, creating one of the rare moments when a standing person seems to have no shadow at all.
