It’s a very long story but I work in an office with a manger I hate. They are micromanaging, overbearing, and flat out annoying to work with. Three former corkers have left because of them, all citing their behavior and treatment as reasons for leaving. The office was looking to hire help and it was my impression that it would be on the same level as me, just as it was before my other coworker left. It turned out the job was for a higher position with higher pay and virtually the same description as I have now. I actually wrote the description posted online because my manager asked me for a list of duties a month prior!
The problem lies in the unseen responsibility my manager is expecting. They mention things like “taking more off my plate” and “owning more responsibility on projects” which is extremely vague and no different from the current role I am currently in. There is no real tangible answer they can give as to how this would actually look and what a completed task would look like. I applied thinking “fuck it it’s more money” but after the vague nature of our talk it really off put me. I have been searching for another job now for 3 months but it is hard to even land an interview.
I’m thinking I will still interview for this role but I don’t feel like I would accept the role if offered. Is this an ok thing to do? or should I take bake my application? Could I stay where I am and keep doing what i’m doing until something else comes along? #business source
