Triglav National Park, Slovenia: how difficult is the Špičje ridge?
Hi! I'm planning a hut-to-hut trip in Triglav National Park in late (24-27th) September and trying to decide between routes.
Option A: I’ll be staying at Koča pri Triglavskih jezerih, and considering an overnight at Zasavska koča na Prehodavcih.
From there, I am thinking of taking this route : *Prehodavci → Špičje ridge → (Zgornja Komna) → Dom na Komni overnight → Bohinj*
My main question is about the actual difficulty of the Špičje ridge, rather than specifically summiting Veliko Špičje.
I keep seeing the route described as ***“very difficult”***, but is that for the ridge itself or just the ascent to Veliko Špičje? I don't necessarily want to summit, and would be happy to traverse along the ridge and enjoy the panoramic views.
And then, how is the section continuing from the ridge toward Zgornja Komna / Dom na Komni? Is this a moderate route?
Option B: Alternatively, I'm thinking of staying at Koča pri Triglavskih jezerih for 2 nights as a base and doing Prehodavci and the lakes, and maybe some moderate part of the ridge as day trips. This is my fallback option, and probably not as adventurous.
I consider myself a reasonably experienced hiker, but I don't have any technical gear or much experience with technical terrain. This is my first time in this region, and I'll be going solo.
