House background: \~1,450 sqft single-story home. House is built on a huge slope, so the crawl space can be walked into from the rear of the house by a full-sized man door. It's \~7-8 ft tall and then you walk towards the front of the home it goes to 4-5 foot head clearance.
I have been having major ant issues that would not go away for a long time. My bug guy asked to see my crawl space and noted a musty smell and pointed out some moldy spots on some wood on the exterior and asked me to get with this specific Crawl Space Repair company who quoted the following:
* Clean Space encapsulation * Closing the vents causing moisture * Standing water pump (Electrician to add circuit) (3 year warranty) * Dehumidifier (5 year warranty) * Silver glow Insolation foam * Removing the existing Insolation * Mold Killer - Chem option or Baking soda blasting
All services were quoted at \~$30,000.
No major damage was found. Wood moisture levels were at 21-26% around the underside of the house all around. Overall humidity was \~66%. There is a spot that shows signs of collecting water, thus the sump pump. Overall, just basic prevention work.
I plan to get 2 more local quotes and compare, but any advice on whether this seems about normal for this type of work? TYIA #home source
