Most people disrespect themselves without even knowing it...
I used to think that the purpose of any conversation was to keep talking at all costs and fill in the pauses. But lately I've noticed that this is actually the exact opposite of what needs to be done. When I was in a hurry to fill in all the gaps in the conversation, I was essentially making it clear that I was worried and didn't value my personal space. It was like I was asking for approval and I felt awkward. Instead, I started treating silence as a tool. It's not about being rude, it's about just giving the conversation some breathing room. It's amazing how much more people open up when you're just waiting for them to talk next time. Has anyone else experimented with this use of silence? Or do you think that this only complicates the situation? #relationships source
