With how difficult it is today for experienced people to get jobs, how screwed is the next generation?
I have seen people in tech with 10-20 years of experience downgrading anywhere from entry level roles in the field to janitor jobs or Uber driving. I have seen people with multiple degrees, impressive ass resumes with a long work history struggling to land interviews. I have even seen nurses struggle to find work on occasion.
WHAT the fuck is the average young person supposed to do today? "Go to college"? "Learn a skill"?
College is becoming a fucking scam. I don't disagree with learning skills, but HOW do you want them to learn skills? Young people do not have the money to go to school OVER and OVER.
The older generations are supposed to be fucking GUIDING young people and giving them a chance to prove themselves. Instead we filter out 80% of resumes and expect them to have a familial connection to get a job.
Hiring rates are at recession levels. We are in a recession, at least the common person is. And unlike 08, this seems to be a permanent new reality. This is unsustainable. #business
