How has short form content/ YouTube recapping shifted how people talk about comics ?
Just wondering for people in the space like 10 years ago what perception of different writers and artists have shifted as a result of this.
The Biggest example I can think of is going through old message boards is that Garth Ennis has taken a massive hit in terms of public preception where even 10 years ago he was held up as one of the greats, now social media posts, routinely agrues for him amongst the worst. ( This is not really a dicussion about Ennis but I think there is likely a link between how his work is consumed and public preception). To provide I think the explanation for Ennis is that he has extremely diolugue books that use most edgy humor to keep the readers engaged. However, if you just recap the book and strip out diolugues pacing in context you get a barebones plot puncated by these edgelord moments
