20F I’ve never really been outgoing or confident, but back in high school I actually wanted to change that. I started talking more and being more open, and that’s when people basically labeled me as the weird awkward lesbian
After that I just became even more closed off. I kind of fell into this hole where I stopped texting anyone first, I was even embarrassed when someone took a picture of me, and I barely have any photos from that time. Later, the people who gave me that label actually told me that I was cool and that they had judged me wrong, but they kept bringing up everything I had done and making jokes about it all the time. I think it affected me way more than I realized.
Now I genuinely have no idea how to talk to people. I even signed up for weekend classes specifically because I thought it would be a good way to meet people, but I just sit there in the corner because I have no idea what to say or how to keep in touch with anyone. And then I just go home and convince myself that this is simply who I am.
I have basically no friends, I never go out, I have no social life whatsoever. I really want to change this, but I want to do it in small steps because the idea of suddenly becoming super social is honestly terrifying. I just don’t even know where to start. Has anyone actually gone from being extremely shy and socially awkward to having a normal social life? What did you do? #relationships
