A fire broke out aboard the vehicle ferry Blue Carrier 2 north of Mykonos on Friday, prompting the evacuation of everyone on board. 🚢
The Greek-flagged cargo vessel had 28 crew members and one truck driver aboard, all of whom were reported safe after being transferred toward Tinos.
The ship was carrying 166 trucks and 29 passenger vehicles. Firefighting vessels and coast-guard boats responded, while a salvage tug was sent to cool the vessel and help prevent it from grounding. 🔥
By late Friday, the fire had been contained but was still burning below deck, according to Kathimerini. The cause remained under investigation as firefighting and salvage operations continued.
