People never talk about how eerie "Sound of Silence" lyrics hit now.
I know it's surely not what they meant by them, but I can never help applying them to our modern day and how so many people just jack their phones directly into their heads. Read it like a commentary on the internet and how people act when they're locked in it.
"And in the naked light I saw ten thousand people, maybe more. People talking without speaking. People hearing without listening. People writing songs that voices never shared."
I'll be hanging out in a room full of people ignoring eachother and scrolling, texting, often eachother. It just hits me how little they're really living in that moment.
"And the people bowed and prayed to the neon god they'd made..."

I mean, there's loads in the song that I find translate over well, and that's certainly because the guys were writing it about trends they were already seeing back then. So it's about the same thing, even if not the *exact* same thing. But it's eerie to me, considering they probably nailed it better then they ever could have hoped. Especially the within the framework they present it, which is a prophetic dream.
