Found this during demo in a 1978 house… someone cut a floor joist clean through. How bad is this?
I’m remodeling a 1978 house in the Colorado mountains and during demo we found someone had cut one of the floor joists almost completely through.

I’m a structural engineer so I have a plan for fixing it, but it was still one of those “what the hell happened here” moments.
Curious how often people run into stuff like this during renovations.
