GPU x Chassis compatibility?

So I’m working on some plans to build my PC directly inside of a desk (custom building the desk as well). I want to place the motherboard inside the desk in such a way that the USB ports etc. are flush with the edge of the desk. I want the edge of my GPU to also be flush, so that it essentially looks like I’m plugging my HDMI directly into the side of the desk.

My question is this: if I cut a hole in the desk for the specific size of my current GPU (RTX 3050), will I be able to upgrade later and not have to rebuild it? Would the piece of the GPU that is normally flush with the chassis be the same size across cards? For example, if I upgraded to a 5070 or something down the line, does anyone know if I’d have to adjust the size of the cutout? I assume there must be some degree of standardization, otherwise you’d have to buy a new chassis whenever you upgraded your GPU. Any advice is welcome, thank you!
