7800x3d vs 9800x3d for mainly gaming + some productive work

I'm currently running a 7700x + 7900xt build with my 1440p@240hz oled although i'm also considering getting a 610hz+ esport TN panel by december.

I mainly play esports titles but also dabble in more story focused games. additionally, i do video rendering and 3d modeling work outside of gaming however not frequent enough to warrant an entire system upgrade.

I can get a 7800x3d for about $280 USD after conversion + tax while I could get a 9800x3d for $430 USD after conversion + tax.

I see some posts talking about how the performance uplift is marginal between generations but I also wonder if the additional $150 is worth the extra all around performance.

How much does motherboard matter?

Just looking for some help, I’ve finally begun to understand cpus and gpus but I’m wondering how much brands and whatnot matter with everything else. Motherboard, coolers, ram, ssd, etc. Pcpartpicker will tell me if things are incompatible, right? Are these other things components I can save some money on? What should I be looking out for?

Crucial/Micron Warranty department, dishonesty with false promises

TLDR: SSD died under warranty, we were forced to pay for shipping and they offered inferior replacement options. We pushed back and the same model drive was now magically available.

Our company bought decent number of 1tb Gen4 NVME drives late last year (upgrades for existing employee laptops) and recently one the drives failed. This has been our experience so far.

5/18 - RMA started and we were told we would have to cover shipping even though it failed under warranty.

5/19 - Reached back out because they never gave us the RMA number to send the drive in

5/20 - Drive was shipped out

5/25 - Drive delivered to RMA department

6/2 - Replied to their email explaining the issues for a second time

6/18 - Emailed them to inquire about the status, was told to wait a full 20 days after the drive was delivered to them which it had been.

6/23 - Received email from the RMA department saying they could not replace the exact drive and they provided 2 options. Both were lesser Gen3 drives that were half the cost of the one we purchased. I told them those were unacceptable as we should be offered an equivalent replacement to what was purchased. They replied later that day offering a 3rd option..... THE SAME MODEL DRIVE THAT WAS SENT IN!

7/2 - Sent them another email asking when we could expect the drive to ship, I was told it was about to ship and we would have tracking in the next 48 hours.

7/7 - Still waiting...

The main reason I'm frustrated is with the replacement options. We are all aware of the current hardware shortages and the lead times associated. However, they tried to pass off slower and older drives instead of the same model that they had in stock.....That doesn't sit right with me. It's shady and dishonest to customers who have spent thousands of dollars with your company.

Help my AMD Ryzen 7 9850x3D gets 83.9 degrees max temperature

Hello,

I just recently built a new PC with an AMD Ryzen 7 9850x3d , I’m using a thermal light phantom spirit 120 Evo to cool it.

I’ve been monitoring my temperatures using cinebench 2026 1.3 my peak temperature on the cpu got to 82.9 degrees

On Minecraft flying around in creative mode on max settings got up to 83ish degrees .

I’m trying to lower the temperature so something I’m more comfortable with

I put a fan curve of -30 on the 2 prime cores and the other cpu cores have -26.

I set the maximum TDP for the cpu to 95w

CPU Limited Performance for New Game Releases

Why is it we only get GPU limited performance vs GPU data for new game releases and not CPU limited performance vs CPU? Is it simply because GPUs are easy to swap and PCIe is backwards compatible? Whereas a different CPU requires essentially entire new system config (with exception to AM4).

The reason I ask is because it would be nice to have an approximate range of potential performance for new game releases (GPU to CPU limited performance).

i7-3770 + rtx 2060 super + H77H2-M3. Is it possible?

Hello guys. Yesterday I bought a new GPU after 10 years of using gt630. But on my H77H2-M3 (ECS Bios, no BIOS update available since 2012) mobo, the screen being just black and no signal after successfully showing BIOS launch. It is not entering to BIOS screen either. AI was saying it is because my MOBO can not support new UEFI, it has old GOP or smth like UEFI/GOP legacy incompatibility.

But I found YouTube Gaming test video on the same setup, but on GA-Z77P-D3. Now AI saying it can be possible if I go into other LGA 1155 mobos which has recent BIOS updates, like GA-Z77P-D3, ASUS P8H77-V.

Do you recommend to replace my mobo to other 1155s? Does this support rtx 2060 super? If you recommend new MOBO that is newer, I don't have a budget for new MOBO + CPU + RAM currently, as i recently bought i7-3770, 16GB RAM ddr3. I just want to use them smh for a while
