A Boeing 767 cargo aircraft operating as 21 Air Flight 7598 for Amazon overran Runway 30 while landing at Miami International Airport on Sunday. 🛬
Five people were killed and five injured after the aircraft struck a cleaning-company van and a vehicle outside airport property, according to the NTSB chair. AP reported that the five deaths were among people in the van.
The flight had arrived from San Juan, Puerto Rico. Although it carried Amazon branding, 21 Air operated the flight; initial reporting described the aircraft as a converted cargo Boeing 767.
NTSB investigators recovered the flight data recorder and are documenting the scene and preserving evidence. They said they are not yet determining a probable cause. 🔎
The inquiry will examine crew and operational issues, air-traffic services, weather, aircraft performance and 21 Air's relationship with Amazon. Flights resumed after the disruption, though two airport runways remained out of service on Monday.
