anAt what point did Napa become bougey and overpriced?

I was at a wine bar last night and there were people there dropping thousands of dollars on Napa wines such as Silver Oak, Caymus Special Selection, Cain Five, etc. They were buying the 1.53L versions of these wines as well as cases of 750ML. Stuff is way out of my price range.

I tried a glass of 2015 Frank Family Cab and thought it was ok. I then had a glass of a Kermit Lynch GSM Rhone Blend and that blew the Frank Family Cab out of the water.

Has Napa always been like this? I feel like for less money I could drink wine from Chile, Argentina, Portugal, Spain, or South Africa. Or hell even Sonoma, Santa Barbara, or Willamette Valley.
