Ruinart Rosé NV vs. Veuve Clicquot Vintage Rosé 2015 – clear winner for us
Had these two side by side with my wife, and we both clearly preferred the Veuve Clicquot.
**Ruinart Rosé NV – 91/100**
Very polished and well made, but almost to the point of being boring. Nothing really wrong with it, just not particularly exciting or memorable.
**Veuve Clicquot Vintage Rosé 2015 - 93/100**
More multidimensional, noticeably more complex, and with a longer finish. Just a much more interesting Champagne overall.
My wife independently came to the same conclusion.
I know Ruinart Rosé has plenty of fans, but for us the Veuve was the clear winner.
Curious if anyone else has tried these side by side, or how you rate the Veuve 2015.

1979 Barsac- Chateau Doisy Daene
Opened this for 🇨🇦 Thanksgiving. Paired with caramelized 1000 layer apple cake. Amazing notes of honey & apricot & orange rind. The cork was quite saturated so it took a little doing to get it out. But the wine was perfect! We couldn’t find an ABV on the label anywhere - maybe that wasn’t required in 1979? Wine itself was quite viscous, my guess was maybe about 17%? Just a shot in the dark. But it was the perfect end to the meal ❤️🍷
