In Philippines, it's a customary to do what we call "Pamamanhikan" (I think theres no direct one word translation for this😊). Before the wedding, the groom and his family visit the bride’s home to formally ask her parents for her hand in marriage and discuss wedding plans.
After the Pamamanhikan, In older days, representative from both families will be doing what they call
"Bulungan" or (whispering) Held at the bride’s home, close relatives and elders
traditionally speak in whispers or quiet murmurs when finalizing financial contributions and assignments so they will not attract bad spirits or bad luck.
But this tradition rarely practiced today
We also have,
Arrhae (Coin Ceremony) where the groom gives the bride 13 coins (arrhae) during the wedding ceremony to symbolize prosperity and his pledge to provide for the family.
And of course the Money Dance. Guests pin cash bills onto the bride and groom’s outfits during a dance at the reception to shower the newlyweds with financial good luck.
Imagine the bride and groom covered with cash bills while dancing🤔😁
