How have we progressed in so many other areas - casual Fridays, 5 o'clock shadows being acceptable, women wearing pants/not wearing hose, etc. - and men are still expected/required to wear long pants?
I have a PT tutoring job that requires pants. They pay is next to nothing. Teachers in actual schools often have "pajama days" and the like. But the company \*requires\* long pants be worn at a gig that pays barely above minimum wage.
Oh, and it's hotter than Satan's testicles where I live in the summers.
Women now have the choice to wear pants, dresses, or skirts in professional settings. What choice do men have? No choice at all. PANTS. The end.
Why do women get to air condition their hoohas whereas my sweaty nards have to be wrapped in multiple layers of fabric without a cool breeze now and then?
It wouldn't be complicated. Delineate that rainbow Bermuda shorts or other gym shorts aren't considered "professional". Shorts should have the same color scheme/patterns as suits to be considered acceptable workplace attire. Especially if we're not wearing blazers or ties.
Men overheat easily in our nether regions. We're getting our chestnuts roasted here and it's both unfair and outdated. Why do you think "Zoom attire" implies no pants? It's cuz pants are too hot and uncomfortable!
