That time I was left behind on a hike

Hi so I wanted to get the time I was left behind on a hike off my chest. It was my fault because I over did it with my fibromyalgia but still.

This happened a few years ago but now that I’m hiking twice a week I can’t get it out of my mind.

I went on a 10 mile hike with a college hiking club. It was my second hike with them and I wasn’t used to hiking but I underestimated how strenuous ten miles would be. I’d also worn the wrong boots, they were more for fashion than proper hiking and I had to stop the group a few times to rest. I got the sense the stopping was annoying them and I was embarrassed. I thought I could finish the hike but on the way back down I got shooting pains in my legs and realized I couldn’t walk anymore.

I was with 4 men and 1 other lady. One of the guys offered to carry my bag but I said it’s okay it’s not the bag it’s my legs. Most of them had gone ahead. He seemed annoyed and didn’t offer to help me walk or carry me so I did not ask him even though I needed it.

Then he walked ahead of me and I was really offended because they’d all left me behind. It wasn’t like I was in danger but I ended up doing a limping/crawling my way down the last half mile down the hiking trail (the end) until I got to the parking lot and called my grandma to come pick me up. I didn’t see any of them around but she drove up and got me. (Best grandma) Then when I woke up the next day I had to call off work for a couple days because I realized I couldn’t even limp, I was getting shooting pains. And I only got up to go to the bathroom or grab a snack.

I stayed in bed for 2 days until I could walk again, but I felt such a sense of betrayal because that was dangerous and I didn’t speak to or hike with that group again.

Anyways, I just wanted to get it off my chest because I feel offended when I remember.
