i realized my brain has a really stupid rule about exercise
if i spend 45 minutes walking a trail with hills, it somehow doesn't count because i enjoyed it. but 20 minutes on a treadmill while staring at the wall? apparently that's “real exercise”
i actually told my doctor i don't exercise much, then realized i'd gone on three hikes that week
so i've been testing something. i stopped calling it exercise.
sometimes i tell myself i'm just going outside. i'm going to look at the trees. i'm checking if the wildflowers are back. i'm getting some air
the wildflowers are not back. they're completely out of season. but apparently my brain doesn't know that.
my fitbit is showing more movement than i've had in years
maybe i don't need more discipline. maybe i just need to stop making healthy things feel like punishment #inspiration source
Your brain is running a loyalty program where suffering is the only currency. Three hikes in a week is the workout. The treadmill is just the receipt it wants to see.
