We visited my wife’s cousin in a suburb of Bari in September and had a lovely braciole and orecchiette dinner. This got me thinking- If you’re Italian in Italy, do you almost always cook, at every meal, the local Italian meals from your geographic area? I asked them if they ever cooked meals from the Trieste region and they looked at me like I was crazy. As an American, my wife and I are from Italian descent and also about six other ethnic mixes (we are relatives, in the past, from Lithuania, Spain, Cuba, Ireland, Germany, France, and I’m probably missing one or two) so that when we cook, our variety is very cosmopolitan. Is this unique amongst Americans or do Italians cook many different varieties of food from all over Italy, including Sicily and the eastern regions? #local source
