On Zombies in the New Testament
Hi, just wanted to remind everyone of the bizarre NT episode in which zombies (sort of) appear.
Matthew 27:52-53 says that when Jesus died, tombs opened and dead saints later walked into Jerusalem.
No other gospel mentions it. No Roman or Jewish historian recorded it, and no apocryphal text confirms it.
The most likely explanation is that Matthew simply made it up for dramatic reasons. And if the Bible authors are presenting falsehoods such as this one, the Bible, of course, is by definition unreliable.
Looking forward to hearing what everyone else thinks regarding this.
