Is my older coworker creepy?

I work at a large corporate law firm and recently moved into a new department. I’m 31 and work as a law clerk/paralegal. There’s a male coworker in his early 50s who works on the complete opposite side of the office from me (open office setup, so it’s not like we naturally cross paths constantly).

At first I assumed he was just being friendly and welcoming, but over time it started feeling off. On multiple occasions he’s asked me to grab lunch alone, even though we don’t work together, aren’t on the same team, and barely know each other. He also tends to overshare and has shown poor social boundaries generally. For example, during a conversation about Mother’s Day he showed me a photo of his deceased mother in her casket, which honestly made me really uncomfortable.

He also used to come over to my desk pretty frequently just to chat, despite having no real work reason to be there. I mentioned him casually to another female coworker without even bringing up my own interactions, and she immediately told me to “be careful” because she finds him creepy too.

He seems to have backed off a bit after I repeatedly declined lunch invitations, but he still occasionally drops by.

Am I being paranoid here, or does this sound like inappropriate boundary-pushing?

Mind you this is a married man with 4 kids.
