We want to put a pond liner in, but have an underground sump pump system with no record of where the pipes are
Hopefully this is the right place to get some advice, or maybe someone can send me in the right direction.
When we inherited our house it came with a built in underground sump pump system. The pipes go from our house to the ditch by the road. To complicate things more, the place that is most convenient for the pond is between the house and that ditch.
We can find no record of where these pipes are. We have no idea how deep they are. The company that put the system in is long out of business. We’ve asked family if they can recall where the pipes are. They can’t.
Is there a way we can figure out where they are so we can safely dig without damaging them?
We can dig with shovels if necessary, the pond liner is relatively small, but I have no idea how fragile these pipes may be.
Other than that(and calling the electric company to make sure it’s safe to dig), is there anything else we should be worrying about when digging a hole? It will be less than 3 feet deep. #home
