Help with GMA "Mag to Grid, get rid, Grid to mag, add" or other Mnemonics
Hello
I've currently gotten into Hiking/Land Navigation. Gone on a Beginner Land nav course but I'm really struggling with magnetic declination. I've been told of the Mnemonic "Mag to Grid, get rid, Grid to mag, add" which has helped a lot.
The instructor who taught this was in the UK military who knows it by heart but it was only for Western GMA, not eastern. Now my problem lies in that I'm going camping and just going through backcountry for a week and some very nice areas with a few buddies of mine but the area that we are going to has an Eastern Declination which I'm trying to get a Mnemonic to remember if we need to use map and Compass. I was wondering if people have any other Mnemonics for GMA for an Eastern Declination or does the "Mag to Grid, get rid, Grid to mag, add" be okay for this or do I need to change it for an easterly Variant.
