Trying to make friends as a teenager outside of school is impossible.
I'm 17f and I graduated high school early. I'm in college now, but my college is small and its social scene is dead. Absolutely nothing is going on during the summer.
I have a part-time job, but I'm both the youngest person there (there's one other girl around my age, but she doesn't seem interested in being social) and it only takes up 3 days of my time.
I'm bored. Incredibly. I want real-life friends. I'm really tired of being online all the time. Everybody's so miserable online. I want to do things in real life. I want to make friends in real-life.
Particularly, I want to meet queer friends. I'm a lesbian and I've hardly met anybody else who's queer in years.
But every fucking event I find is "18+" or "21+" and I feel so out of place at teenage groups because I'll be an adult in 3 months! I'm not really interested in being friends with people 13-15.
Like I HAVE money. I'm fine spending money on places. But nowhere will allow me because I'm to young.
It feels like I'm genuinely not allowed anywhere and it's so fucking irritating. No wonder teenagers spend all their time online, there's nowhere else FOR us to go! Everybody just assumes you have friends from high school or your college. But I don't. Theres nobody for me to make friends with.
And even when I do eventually become an adult, half of the events I DO find are so focused around alcohol or sex and I have no interest in that. Is that all people do?
I'm just so lonely and bored dude. I'm tired of being home all the time. I don't know what I'm going to do for the next 3 months until I'm an adult. #relationships source
