My 17 year old accidentally downed a can of vodka infused whipped cream…
I have to share this story with people who won’t judge me super harshly (this is not material for the parents’ facebook group, LOL) because I think it’s hilarious. I have two children, 21f and 17m. For my daughter’s 21st birthday my partner and I got her some alcohol, you know just some wine and things like that. When we were shopping we found a can of peppermint flavored, vodka infused whipped cream. We thought it’d be funny to get it for her, and plus we wanted to try it as well.
My 17 year old loves whipped cream. Like, during the holiday season, we have to hide it from him, otherwise he’ll finish the can in a day. We hid this whipped cream similarly, but my daughter later admitted that she had found it while looking for something in our room and forgot to hide it again. My son found the whipped cream, which I will say doesn’t make it overly obvious that it contains alcohol, and apparently the peppermint hid any taste of vodka. I got a call from my son about a day before his sister’s birthday while I was at work, and he was absolutely freaking out. Said he felt weird, sluggish, confused, etc. I was immediately concerned and asked a million questions about what he did that day, what he ate, etc, was worried I might have to take him to the ER. Enter the whipped cream.
He profusely apologized for eating it and said he would buy another can of it before his sister’s birthday dinner. I explained to him what it was and did some googling to make sure that it wasn’t enough alcohol to kill or harm him, and then headed home to keep an eye on him. Once he realized that he was just drunk, it was a hilarious night. He tried to name the fifty states, got New Jersey, New York and New Town (???) then gave up. We watched Mulan, which made him cry, and then we got Taco Bell because he was begging for it. The rest of the family thought it was very funny, and even though we had fun we made sure he was safe all night and I checked on him multiple times after he fell asleep. He had a nasty hangover the next day and went into school late, but other than that survived.
