I brought in three companies and went with the well reviewed local guy. He said there was some insulation in the garage attic so didn’t need to do anything there. In the garage he recommended spray foam in two walls and dense pack in the ceiling since there was no insulation there.
I asked twice if we needed to be out of the house and he said no because it wasn’t that much spray.
On the day of the install the guys decided to access and spray in the garage attic. I was a room over and the smell was strong enough I had a headache. I went downstairs and sent my partner and three year old out of the house.
Some quick googling made it sound like no one should be there. So we got a hotel for the night.
Before leaving the guys mentioned I had two suitcases and a suit bag in the garage attic and I should store them somewhere else and put foam board in the doorway to the attic for better insulation. When I got back I pulled the suitcases out and they had small amounts of spray (splatter?) on them.
The internet says I should throw them out. I tried calling the owner twice and texting once. No response in a week.
I am looking for advice on the suitcases and how to proceed. Should I file a complaint against his license? I should have been out of the house (?) so he put our health at risk and cost me money I didn’t budget for.
Or did the internet just get me worried over nothing about the spray and the suitcases?
