✈️ Qantas says it plans to begin non-stop flights from Sydney to New York from mid-2028, using Airbus A350-1000ULR aircraft. The airline expects the trip to take about 18 hours.

The service would be Qantas’s second Project Sunrise route after Sydney–London, planned for October 2027. Qantas currently routes Sydney–New York passengers through Los Angeles, a journey of about 21 hours.

The planned aircraft will carry 238 passengers and include a wellbeing zone for movement and refreshments. Its added fuel capacity is designed for flights of up to 22 hours. 🌏

Tickets for the New York route are due to go on sale in August 2027, though Qantas has not announced a launch month or fares. The programme has previously been delayed by the pandemic and Airbus manufacturing delays.
