How does everyone feel about releases only being accessible if you pay for special editions?
Companies like to call this "early access", while I like to call it delayed access for those of us who don't want to pay $100 for an "epic edition".
Some recent examples include Code Vein 2 and the upcoming World of Warcraft: Midnight release.
While it's not the end of the world to wait an extra 3 or 5 days, I do struggle with my decisions around paying companies for games when they decide to do this. Especially single-player games.
I think for online, mainly large scale online games, there's an argument that this approach gates access and reduces chances of running into server-side bandwidth issues.
As an individual, not paying for a game out of principle means almost nothing to a company, I am trying to speak more with my money as I get older. I just wish the gaming community didn't run so much off of FOMO.
