This is Gilbert O’Sullivan on the Ed Sullivan show in 1972
the way he plays the piano, it’s quite interesting, as someone who’s very into music of all sorts of genres, I’ve never seen someone play the piano in the way he does, he plays it like a drum set, and he does it so effortlessly. He first learned drums and then learned piano, and he actually learned how to play drums from Supertramp drummer Rick Davies. It’s so interesting how he carried over the influence of the drums to piano playing. I love this performance, and this song, it’s quite beautiful, and unequivocally oldschool cool.
