Calling someone before texting is NOT rude

How did we get to this point where we should text someone to call? So I need to text to set up a meeting to chat with someone on the phone now?

Are we so disconnected right now that people default to words in a blue bubble? It makes absolutely no sense to me. If you’re busy, don’t answer. I’ll drop you a voicemail, or you can respond or call me back when it’s convenient. But this whole “I hate people calling me I’d rather text” nonsense is truly sad.

I’ve also heard other justifications like “I want to know what we’re going to discuss ahead of time”

Like… hello? Sorry, I didn’t know we were running friendships like it’s corporate America.

The only reasonable excuse is that you absolutely prefer in-person conversations, but that’s not always an option when your relationships are scattered across the country.

Think of someone? Give them a call. Stop asking for permission to check in or talk to people you’re close to.
