A company taking two months to interview you and then giving you forty-eight hours to accept an offer is wild
I just wrapped up a seven-week hiring gauntlet for a senior project manager role. Five separate interview rounds, a take-home presentation, and two instances where the hiring manager rescheduled with zero notice because of "internal emergencies." I jumped through every single hoop with a smile.
Then, at four-thirty on Friday afternoon, the recruiter sends over the formal offer letter. At the bottom of the email in bold text, it said: "Please note this offer expires on Sunday at midnight."
I sat there staring at my laptop in disbelief. They took forty-nine days to decide if they wanted me, but expected me to read through a twenty-page non-compete agreement, analyze health insurance deductibles, and make a major life decision over a weekend when their own corporate office isnt even open to answer basic questions.
I emailed back politely asking for an extension until Wednesday so I could review the terms properly. The recruiter called me twenty minutes later sounding visibly annoyed, telling me that leadership "values decisive candidates." It is just INSANE. Exploding offers have nothing to do with business urgency and everything to do with bullying candidates before they can finish interviewing elsewhere. Why do companies think this kind of behavior is acceptable? Why is this even a thing? #business source
