Thoughts on how to screw these figure 8 fixtures in, while the legs are attached.

So I have these legs with the figure 8 fixtures attached to them now, problem is the legs cover the fixture holes. Anyone overcome this before? Or have any ideas? I am opposed to driving a screw in at an angle if at all possible
