I need some encouragement to quit my job next year to travel for 4 months.
I’m a 26 year old woman. Traveled to 11 countries mostly solo. I’m currently saving my money. I’ve got a good start with my savings (about 20,000 AUD). I’m currently working an office job which pays very well but it’s become toxic and recently they’re not letting me go on leave for more than a week but letting other people go for weeks at a time (my boss hates me for reasons I don’t want to discuss). I’ve been there for over a year. So I decided because it pays well at least, I’m going to keep saving, quit, and go away for about 3-4 months to travel the Mediterranean solo in mid 2025 and then Seychelles to see my family. North Africa, the Levant and southern Europe have been my dream destinations so figured it’s time to make it happen.
Of course in theory it sounds exciting but at the same time I’m also terrified about when I come back home that I might have trouble finding a new job or something. Dad keeps telling me to work at my current job for another 3 years because it looks good on a resume but there’s no way in hell that’s happening. 2 years will be as much as I can take. I already pre booked a tour in Egypt with a deposit which is refundable.
But would really love some encouragement from people who have left their job for travelling! I’m not interested in remote work at the moment btw.
