The Gift of The Unbound Mind : A tribute to my brother

We spend so much of our time at war with ourselves. Picking apart our flaws in the mirror, groaning over small inconveniences, letting endless complaints drown out our days. Always tired, always wanting more, always measuring our worth by what we lack or what we failed to achieve.
And then life hits you with a perspective that shatters all that noise.
This is a story about what I saw right inside my own family. My brother—whom we lovingly called our little god. For thirty-eight years, he lay completely motionless, unable to walk, to speak, or to feed himself. He wasn’t born that way . A few months after his birth my uncle and aunt found out his disability . He could do nothing except rest on his back his entire life. Yet my aunt and uncle poured their absolute existence into caring for him. Day after day, year after year, with a devotion so fierce it became a temple. They held him, fed him, carried that massive mountain without a single complaint, right until his very last breath. Just two hours after a bath, after a lifetime of quiet stillness, he suddenly laughed out loud—before finally finding the relief he so deeply needed.
When you see a journey like that up close, it changes how you look at everything.
We complain about a bad day, a physical insecurity, a rough patch. But we forget the absolute luxury of simply being able to move our own hands, step outside under an open sky, speak our minds, and read these words.
Even when we struggle with our mental health, we still have choices. We can seek help to get it cured, or we try to work through it ourselves—meditating, reading, moving, pushing forward. We can try to change our careers; we might succeed or we might fail, but the point is we have a career, we have a chance, we have a life to try with.
Even when our marriages aren't picture-perfect or exactly what we dreamed of, our spouses are there. They are well, they are breathing, they share this life with you, and you with them. We have healthy children.
If you are reading there is a big chance that you already have everything life has to offer .
Before we despair over broken ambitions or stress about the next goal, let's stop. Let's just begin by feeling this life moving inside us. Let's start simply by feeling our own breathing.
To constantly curse our lives, hate our bodies, or waste our days in ingratitude feels like such a tragedy when you've seen what a real struggle looks like. Somewhere out there, souls fought for decades just for a single unburdened breath or a single laugh.
Life doesn't have to be perfect to be a miracle. The simple fact that we can think, feel, decide, and act means we are already equipped. All you need is just a little love towards your own life . Let's stop treating existence as a burden, and start treating it as the fragile, extraordinary chance that it is.

Grading the day by what is missing gets loud enough to pass for weather. A tribute that puts your brother's unbound mind in place of that scoreboard is sharper than the usual call to be grateful. The complaints do not lose an argument. The measure itself stops fitting.
