What was the most disappointing post-UFC run?
Of course, there are a LOT of bad post-UFC runs. This is especially seeing as a lot of legends get released after a decline on the big stage. A lot of formerly great fighters could never recapture their prime days in promotions like Bellator, RIZIN, ONE, etc.
Which fighters did you have higher expectations for after they left the UFC? Mine would be:
**Vitor Belfort** \- I thought we were going to see a full comeback of TRT spinning kick Vitor from 2013 maul some tomato cans in ONE Championship (Vitor was signed by them in 2018). Rumored fight was talked about against Alain Nglani, another exciting, juicy fighter. In true Chatri fashion, it never happened and it was basically a waste of everyone's time. We ended up seeing him KO a 55-year old Evander Holyfield and a meh fight versus Jacare Souza. I don't really care for MMA fighters going the celebrity boxing route, which is all the craze nowadays.
**Eddie Alvarez** \- Everyone was expecting Eddie to easily win the ONE title when he left the UFC. Went 1-2-1 with a sole win over former ONE champion Eduard Folayang. Hasn't fought in MMA since 2021. Has done well in BKFC.
**Alistair Overeem** \- Had an awesome fight against Badr Hari in Glory back in 2022. Built up to a highly anticipated fight against Rico Verhoeven. Tested positive for roids, went vegan (a complete 180 from eating horse beef), and faded into obscurity. Anti-climactic is not a strong enough word.
