I freeze during confrontation and can’t speak properly — how do I fix this?
This has been happening to me for a very long time, like years.
Whenever I get into any kind of disagreement or tense situation with someone, I completely freeze. My body starts shaking from the inside, my heart races, and I can’t respond properly at all.
For example, recently I had a situation with a guy I had met before. The first time I met him (about a month ago), he spoke to me in a very aggressive and disrespectful way, and I got really scared. I couldn’t defend myself or say anything back — I just froze.
Then I saw him again yesterday at the gym. I tried to talk to him normally and even brought up that his previous behavior wasn’t okay. But as soon as he looked at me intensely, I felt the same fear again. My body started reacting, and I couldn’t speak the way I wanted. I just shut down.
This isn’t just with him — this happens to me in many situations. Any kind of confrontation or strong interaction makes me freeze, my voice becomes very weak, and I feel like a little kid inside. It’s honestly exhausting, and I’ve been dealing with this for so many years without being able to fix it.
How can I stop freezing in these situations, control my body, and speak confidently when facing someone? #relationships source
