The Quranic manuscripts left me feeling scared
I was doing some comparing between Islam and Christianity in terms of the preservation of text, and as a born Muslim I had always known that it was common knowledge that the Quran was preserved completely.
However..
Actually looking at the manuscript, seeing the way it was written, on animal skin, and picturing this writing of cosmology, biology, humanity's purpose, laws, ethics, in the setting of old Arabia...
Even seeing the Sanaa manuscript made me realize that there were humans writing down to the best of their ability what another human was saying. Another human was saying these incredible and purely miraculous things, things no human being can possibly ever have known. This is what factually happened, regardless of whether or not you believe them to be God's words.
It completely grounded me in a way that felt scary. I think if I was a historian who had never previously heard of the Quran, stumbling upon this manuscript would frighten me to my core.
The earliest manuscript of the Bible is the codex sinaiticus which dates 400 years after Jesus PBUH "died". Imagine someone writing about you 400 years after your death. Would you trust them to write it down properly?
The Quran is so timeless and perfect that I hadn't internalized the history of it. It felt as if it was revealed in my lifetime, subhanAllah. I read it through my phone with English translation. We forget that when we're reading, it was over 1400 years ago that these words were produced. Not today.
How anyone can disbelieve is beyond me. I know Allah is the one who guides whom He wills.. but the truth is as clear as anything can possibly be. May Allah grant us knowledge and understanding, and be able to be a source of light for those completely misguided. Ameen ya Rab.
