quitting insanely difficult pieces was my best decision ever
I used to play Chopin and Liszt Etudes, but that gave my wrist tension and I hated practicing it. If I stopped playing for a week, I'd mess up those songs. Constantly trying to maintain those pieces was a burden. I was afraid to quit those songs because I would not be able to show off anymore, but then I realized people don't even wanna hear insanely difficult pieces. It's not like everybody stops by to witness this superhuman aura. At that time, I could only have 3-4 songs at a time in my repertoire because maintaining these insane pieces is very time consuming. Even though I had the ability to play these kinds of pieces, my ability to learn easier pieces was still slow. I couldn't take requests from people. Later, I quit classical and learned many songs by ear with my perfect pitch. Instead of memorizing note by note, I trained my brain to see music as patterns of harmony and melody. I finally made use of my perfect pitch gift. Now I know 12 songs by heart. I could take requests from people. Now I can finally enjoy playing the piano. I can learn songs by ear quickly and be able to play many songs from memory without practicing every single one every day. Music isn't all about showing off. It doesn't have to be insanely difficult to sound good. #music #audio source
