Where should I go next after Thailand? Waiting for my Australian WHV
Hey everyone,
I’m currently travelling around Southeast Asia and trying to decide where to go next while I wait for my Australian Working Holiday Visa to come through.
I applied for my Australian WHV on 1 August and I’m still waiting, so I don’t really know exactly when I’ll be able to head over. Rather than just sitting around waiting, I’m thinking of travelling somewhere else for a few weeks.
Where I’ve been so far:
Thailand — I’ve spent quite a lot of time here this year. I’ve done Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Krabi, Phuket and Koh Samui/Lamai. I’ve been here for roughly a month on this current stretch and I’m debating whether to stay in Thailand longer or move on.
Malaysia — Kuala Lumpur and travelled around a little.
Vietnam — I spent around a month here previously. I did Hanoi and Ninh Binh and was planning to do Ha Giang but never got around to it properly.
Indonesia — I spent quite a bit of time here too: Bali (Canggu, Ubud, Uluwatu), Gili T, Nusa Penida, Lombok, Labuan Bajo/Komodo and some of East Java.
I’m now trying to decide between:
1. Go back to Vietnam 2. Maybe Da Nang, Hoi An, Ha Giang, etc. I really enjoyed Vietnam and feel like I still have loads to see. 3. Philippines 4. I’ve never been and I’m tempted to spend 2–4 weeks there. Thinking somewhere like Cebu, Siargao, Palawan, etc. 5. Go somewhere completely different
My priorities are basically good social atmosphere, activities/adventure, beaches/nature, decent nightlife, good food and keeping costs relatively low.
I’m travelling solo, so I’d also like somewhere where it’s easy to meet people.
I don’t know exactly when the Australian visa will come through, so ideally somewhere where I can stay flexible.
If you were in my position, where would you go next? And are there any places in Vietnam or the Philippines you’d particularly recommend? #nature #activity source
