uSaturn on a manually tracked 8in dobsonian, advice welcome.
I have a old 8in skywatcher dobsonian and a SV305pro camera, with a 2x barlow. With avarage seeing conditions I got a 6 minute video of Saturn when it was near the maridian totaling 20,058 frames. Using sharp cap I set the gain to 519 then lowered the exposure (to 2.3ms) ntil the histogram was around 75%. The post processing work flow was PIPP -> Autostakkert -> Registax 6 -> Gimp. In Autostakkert I tried the best 20%, 50%, and 80% of frames and there was not much of a difference but I thought 50% looked best. In Registax I did a RGB align before applying wavelets.
It's so difficult manually tracking a dob with a barlow lol. I had to just let saturn cross the frame and then nudge the scope when it got close to the edge.
Any advice on squeezing a better image out of this equipment? I geuss I could use a ADC #space
