\-Did I just get lucky with good pay before and i'm actually doing what i'm worth now, or am I getting screwed over?
I live around central Alabama and I drive a box truck to deliver food and kitchen supplies to anybody who orders it. This can be from napkins to raw chicken. I will generally load 5 to 6 thousand pounds of things onto a box truck alone using a manual pallet jack. I drive this 25 thousand lb limit air brake Freightliner with 1 week of training. I deliver usually between 20 to 80 boxes per stop and have an average of 11 to 12 stops a day. I usually drive 200 to 300 miles per day and manually deliver the boxes with an admittedly good hand cart. No electronic equipment is in this job. The truck only has a metal ramp i must get out by hand.
Before they gave me this, I drove a small transit van with no more than a 150 boxes
per day. Still around the same amount of miles, but now I am working up words of 55 to 60 hours per week compared to the 40 to 45 I would usually get. I used to be able to organize the boxes into the Van myself because the pallets that I receive come completely randomized. In terms of box placement and stop placement. Now I don't have any room to work with and all of my stops are completely randomized in my truck.
I make $21.70 an hour and received a 1% raise in january. Even though I have significantly increased the amount of work and responsibilities that I have.I have had no pay increase or job title change and they refuse to do that. #business source
